Dead Letters - Harrow Inlet
HARROWBBS /// HARROW INLET, WA /// EST. 1993
THE BRIDGE IS OUT.
THE TOWN IS QUIET.
THE RECORDS DON'T QUITE ADD UP.
You are the new municipal records clerk for Harrow Inlet, Washington — population 340. Or it was. A washout closed the only road into town the week before your first day, so you do the job the only way left: remotely, dialing into the town's community bulletin board down a crackling phone line.
You read. That's the whole game — community posts, classifieds, fire department incident reports, a church newsletter, maintenance logs that stop mid-sentence. Everything renders on an amber CRT terminal that hums and flickers like the real thing.
Nothing announces itself. People stop replying mid-thread. The same name turns up in three places it shouldn't. A road keeps appearing in reports filed at 3 a.m. And some posts simply aren't there anymore — just a gap where you can tell something used to be.
The horror isn't that something is hunting the town. It's that everyone already knows, and they're being very, very polite about it.
— FEATURES —
- A complete ~2-hour mystery across four acts, with two endings shaped by how much you uncover
- A living board that moves whether you're reading or not — what you don't get to in time, you may never get to read at all
- A diegetic 1990s BBS: phosphor, scanlines, a dial-up boot, and a fully procedural soundscape
- A private notebook for the names you'll need to keep straight
- Sixteen residents, eight boards, and a town with a very old arrangement
— HOW TO PLAY —
Click a board in the sidebar (or press its letter key) and open posts to read them. [O] opens your notebook, [?] opens help. There's no clock on screen and no objective list — the town keeps its own time.
— CONTENT WARNING —
Atmospheric / psychological horror. Themes of disappearance, death, grief, and a community's complicity. No gore, no jump scares — the dread is quiet.
Inspired by Her Story, Hypnospace Outlaw, Norco, and Disco Elysium.
Be thorough. Be kind. Lock up at night.

this game was so cool! I like the gameplay and the story. at first i thought a game about reading was gonna be boring, but I really liked it. I would love a sequel.
